# Install Goodnotes Enterprise on macOS devices with Microsoft Intune
**If you use Microsoft Intune as the MDM solution to deploy apps at your institution, please follow these steps to deploy the License Key to your macOS devices.**

*While the deployment of your Goodnotes license key does not require a reinstallation of the app, we would encourage all users to make sure they have an appropriate backup in place for their data before creating or modifying the Managed App Configuration. This can be achieved through [iCloud Sync](https://support.goodnotes.com/hc/en-us/articles/7353726793999-Sync-Goodnotes-documents-between-iPhones-iPads-Macs), [Auto Backup](https://support.goodnotes.com/hc/en-us/articles/7352786555279-Use-auto-backup-to-automatically-create-a-copy-of-your-documents-in-a-supported-cloud-storage) or a [Manual Backup](https://support.goodnotes.com/hc/en-us/articles/7353694866831-Back-up-and-restore-your-library-manually).*
If you use Microsoft Intune as the MDM solution to deploy apps to *macOS* devices at your institution, please follow these steps to deploy the License Key provided by our Enterprise Team to the managed devices:
1. Create this text file in a text editor and save it as a .plist or .xml file, replacing the placeholder text with your license key that our team has provided:

com.goodnotesapp.x.managed LicenseKey YOUR_LICENSE_KEY_HERE
```
2. Sign in to the [Microsoft Intune admin center](https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2109431).
3. Select **Devices** \> **Manage devices** \> **Configuration** \> **Create** \> **New policy**.
4. Enter the following properties:
- **Platform**: Select **macOS**
- **Profile type**: Select **Templates** \> **Preference file**.
5. Select **Create**.
6. In **Basics**, enter the following properties:
- **Name**: Enter a descriptive name for the policy, like "Goodnotes License Key Deployment."
- **Description**: Enter a description for the policy. This setting is optional, but recommended.
7. Select **Next**.
8. In **Configuration settings**, configure your settings:
- **Preference domain name**: Enter the bundle ID for Goodnotes **com.goodnotesapp.x**.
- **Property list file**: Select the property list file that you created in step 1.
9. Select **Next**.
10. In **Scope tags** (optional), assign a tag to filter the profile to specific IT groups, such as `US-NC IT Team` or `JohnGlenn_ITDepartment`. For more information about scope tags, go to [Use RBAC and scope tags for distributed IT](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/fundamentals/scope-tags).
Select **Next**.
11. In **Assignments**, select the users or groups that will receive your profile. For more information on assigning profiles, go to [Assign user and device profiles](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/configuration/device-profile-assign).
Select **Next**.
12. In **Review + create**, review your settings. When you select **Create**, your changes are saved, and the profile is assigned. The policy is also shown in the profiles list.
13. Launch Goodnotes, open Goodnotes menu (top-right corner) and check that you see "Goodnotes for Enterprise" at the top, indicating a successful deployment.
> **Important Reminder: Set up OneDrive Auto Backup for Intune-managed devices**

> We strongly recommend enabling **OneDrive Auto Backup** in Goodnotes for all managed users. When iCloud is disabled by policy, this is the only way to ensure your documents can be recovered if anything happens to the app data on a device — for example, if Microsoft Intune performs a Selective Wipe after a user is offline for longer than the configured offline access timeout in your App Protection Policy (APP).
